Aegis Rehab Outcomes - Utilizing GEM

Aegis Therapies utilizes a specially-designed proprietary treatment program, called Geriatric Enhanced Modalities (GEM). This program helps patients with reduced range of motion issues, pain, edema, wounds, muscular weakness and incontinence.

GEM features electrical stimulation, ultrasound and short-wave diathermy utilizing detailed protocols designed specifically for the geriatric population.

Aegis Rehab Outcomes show that patients treated in facilities with the GEM program experienced the following results:

Recovery of Self-Feeding Ability After Stroke

Patients treated with GEM compared to those who were not

• 11% had greater recovery of self-feeding ability
• 21% were more likely to be discharged back home after treatment

Reduced Severe Pain and Increased Mobility

• Prior to treatment, patients rated their pain as at least a “7” on a 10-point scale. They typically report needing very strong prescription pain medications on a regular basis just to be able to sleep.
• After a course of treatment using the GEM program, patients rate their pain as a “1 or 2” on a 10-point scale. They also report that they no longer need prescription medication, only using mild over-the-counter medications when needed.
