Doug T.

Physical Therapist
 

A therapist for Aegis Therapies since 2007, Doug T. provides and oversees physical therapy services within his facility and campus, as well as in the surrounding community.

His co-workers are a very supportive and provide an invigorating environment in which to work. He feels like the residents at his facility are “great people with a lot to share.”

One of his favorite experiences while on the job occurred when he worked with a resident who had come to his facility after being on a ventilator. Through his with Doug, the resident is now walking with a rolling walker and has returned home.

In May 2009, Doug was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and endured several chemotherapy treatments in the months that followed. Despite this, he always returned to work, never missing more than two consecutive days in the process. Thankfully, in early 2010, tests showed that the cancer was in remission. “Helping others helped me heal,” said Doug.

His dedication to his work and his selfless approach to care during this experience drew the attention of his supervisors, who said, “Doug journeyed on a path that no one chooses to go on, but he has given us a beautiful example of perseverance, strength and hope.”
