PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla., August 23, 2007 — Aegis Therapies announced today that it has acquired Gulf Coast Therapy Associates Inc. of Port Charlotte, Fla. Aegis is one of the country’s largest contract rehabilitation therapy providers, serving more than 1,000 long-term care facilities, hospitals and other locations in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Gulf Coast Therapy Associates provides outpatient occupational therapy services and specializes in hand therapy.

“Becoming part of Aegis Therapies will give us the opportunity to expand our reach beyond the Port Charlotte area into other parts of Florida,” said Terri Benock, OTR/CHT, Program Director for Gulf Coast Therapy Associates. “We’ve built a solid reputation in our community, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence as we grow with Aegis.”

“The acquisition of Gulf Coast Therapy Associates is consistent with our strategic vision of reaching a broader patient base,” said Martha Schram, President of Aegis Therapies. “By joining forces with Gulf Coast, we will be able to extend our services beyond nursing homes where most of our business is today.

“With Gulf Coast, we can work directly with patients in other segments of eldercare, such as continuing care retirement centers, outpatient clinics, home health services and assisted living facilities,” she added. “Based on our reputation for clinical excellence in the nursing home setting, we’ve already had several inquiries from assisted living centers and other potential new clients.”

Schram noted that patients in these new areas will now be able to benefit from Aegis’ well-regarded dementia, fall-prevention and balance programs as well as the company’s fitness and wellness programs for the elderly.
